Boilers
The term Boiler is used for a closed vessel in which water or other fluid is heated. The fluid does not necessarily boil. The heated or vaporized fluid exits the boiler for use in various processes or heating applications, including central heating, boiler-based power generation, cooking, and sanitation. Boilers are the basic foundation of heating and domestic hot water in many commercial, industrial, institutional, and education facilities. Boilers are manufactured in many different sizes and configurations depending on the characteristics of the fuel, the specified heating output, and the required emissions controls. Some boilers are only capable of producing hot water, while others are designed to produce steam.
Steam Jackets
Steam jackets are used in the industry for various purposes, the very basic use of steam jacket is to keep the content inside it at a high temperature. For example Steam jackets could be used to keep chemicals at a required temperature for further processing. Steam circulates in the annular space between a jacket and the vessel walls, and heat is transferred through the wall of the vessel. The most commonly used type of steam jacket consists simply of an outer cylinder surrounding the vessel, Steam circulates in the outer jacket,and condenses on the wall of the vessel. Jacketed vessels may also be lagged, or may contain an internal air space surrounding the jacket. This is to ensure that as little steam as possible condenses on the outer jacket wall, and that the heat is transferred inwards to the vessel.
